Photography Tour Overview:
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming is a veritable American icon, is ‘busy’ during the summer months, but in the cool stillness of autumn most folk have left, and the light is mellow. There is wildlife within camera range such as Elk, Antelope, Mule Deer, Bighorn Sheep, and Coyote et cetera, plus the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth hot springs, geysers and much more. To the south you'll shoot Aspen and Cottonwood groves in bright autumn shades with the backdrop of the Grand Teton mountain range. Add in old barns, Jackson Lake, the 'Shane' cabin, more wildlife especially Moose, and fabulous sunrise locations such as Oxbow and Schwabacher for a truly memorable photography tour. As with all of our photography tours, early and late shooting is scheduled for each day.

Our itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour field notes.

Day 1  |  Grand Teton National Park
We kick things off at our gateway hotel with a digital slide presentation at 11:30 am, and then have lunch together which is included today. After a short break, we'll head out to shoot at a leisurely pace in Grand Teton National Park which was set aside for the nation in 1929. We know the spots that the Moose frequent, and they will be our initial focus. Old barns sit well against the towering Teton peaks, as do the golden Aspens at this time of year, and we'll frame some classic last light shots before returning to Jackson.
Jackson, 1 night

Day 2  |  Yellowstone National Park
Following your first classic Grand Teton sunrise session, we'll return to Jackson for breakfast. We'll then linger in Grand Teton National Park for part of the day as we head north into Yellowstone. As we progress we’ll be on the lookout for Moose, Antelope, Coyote, Elk, and Deer. We’ll arrive in the Yellowstone late in the day, and continue shooting as we head via Old Faithful for our overnight stay on the edge of Yellowstone park . . the worlds first national park which was opened on March the 1st, 1872.
West Yellowstone, 1 night

Days 3 + 4  |  Yellowstone National Park
We'll depart before dawn and shoot the first light alongside the Madison River, then continue shooting prior to taking breakfast at Old Faithful. You'll then have a couple of hours plus to shoot the Old Faithful geyser, and take the short hike for a series of geysers including Morning Glory. Lunch at Old Faithful before heading north via a pair of geyser basins, fly fishermen in the Firehole River, a canyon and waterfall, plus wildlife.
On day 4 we'll take you to our own spots where wildlife frequent, and then head into Yellowstone and take the upper park loop starting with the most colorful areas of Mammoth Hot Springs. We'll be on the lookout for Pronghorn Antelope, Elk, Coyote, Bison, and Mule Deer in-between shooting Tower Falls, Mount Washburn, plus Lower and Upper falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Back to Gardiner via the remainder of the northern loop, shooting as we go.
Gardiner, 2 nights

Days 5, 6 + 7  |  Grand Teton National Park
Early light photography once again prior to breakfast, and back to Yellowstone Park one last time. Going south we can revisit some spots if the light was less than ideal on a previous day. Wildlife, geysers, the Yellowstone River and Yellowstone Lake will get our attention prior to re-entering Grand Teton National Park in the afternoon. Jackson is our three-night home and during our stay, first light photography among the mountain peaks is spectacular and well worth the effort. We know from experience the best spots for Moose and Mule Deer in the park, and although the classic locations are generally recognized as being Oxbow Bend and Schwabacher Landing, we'll take you to a healthy number of other locations for you to create your own classic compositions. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action on this tour by John.
Jackson, 3 nights

Day 8  |  Departure day

Weather permitting, another gorgeous sunrise shoot, then after breakfast we’ll get you to the Jackson Hole airport. Flight departures from noon onwards are recommended.
