Photography Tour Overview: A photo tour that will include Vermont classic images such as the Jenne Farm, the Woodstock region, Peacham, 'the
Craftburys', 'the Burkes', the Stowe region, the Northeast Kingdom, covered
bridges, barns, waterfalls, and macro shots of the brilliant red, orange and
yellow Maple leaves. In New Hampshire we'll cover the best of the White Mountain
region including some colorful mountain passes. This New England region is
photogenic during most of the year, but when autumn brings with it brilliant and
fiery colors, and hopefully a touch of morning fog, you ought to be there with
your camera. In addition to our 'foliage foray' will be studies of covered
bridges, classic farm scenes, macro leaf shots and all that comes naturally with
this rustic, historic, lush, golden and pleasant rolling land. Our trip takes in
what we consider as the 'essentials' of Vermont and the White Mountain region of
New Hampshire plus much more. As with all of our photography tours, early and late shooting is scheduled for each day.

Our
itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour
field notes.
Days 1 + 2
| Burlington to Woodstock We'll gather at our Burlington hotel at
9:30am and and head off into the colorful, leafy
yonder heading south across the rolling Vermont landscape. We'll pause at midday
for the included lunch and a digital orientation of images you'll likely capture
during this photography tour. The
day will be spent shooting fall color [obviously!], villages,
covered bridges and waterfalls et cetera. Sunset is scheduled for a high elevation pond
where the color is often stunning.
We’ll start day 2 at sunrise down at the New England autumn classic, Jenne Farm . . . probably the most photographed farm in the United States. While in
the Woodstock area we'll make time for a photo session shooting the simple
things that are stunning when done right, i.e. tumbling water, colored leaves and fungi. We'll also point our cameras at New England classics including the Quechee Gorge,
Woodstock village and a sugar shack et cetera.
Near Woodstock, 2 nights
Days 3 + 4 | The White Mountain region, New Hampshire Dawn shooting near
Woodstock followed by breakfast, then a north-bound journey on a back road - very fertile
photographically speaking - for a succession of classic Vermont farms, ponds and
more. We then turn in the direction of New Hampshire traveling via small
communities and making frequent stops for color, covered bridges and more. On
over the Connecticut River into New Hampshire where late in the day we'll be on
the colorful and spectacular Kancamagus highway on which we'll pause for an easy trail to
a waterfall. Shooting on the pass is often nothing less than spectacular. On to
Conway for our 2 night stay. Day 4 sees us shooting early at a classic lake
scene, plus exploring waterfalls, covered bridges, Bear Notch pass, and more in a region which will be vibrant with the 'fire' of Maples, Birch and Beech.
All this and much more during our stay. Near Conway, 2 nights
Days 5, 6 + 7 | Peacham and the Northeast Kingdom
Early shooting as usual, and following breakfast we head back to Vermont. On
into the White Mountains above which Mount Washington stands tall at 6,288 feet
. . . the highest peak on the eastern seaboard. On to Saint Johnsbury for our 3
night stay via multiple stops for photography.
Days 6 and 7 will see taking loop trips around the regions of East Orange and Peacham,
plus a section of the Northeast Kingdom. One loop will include ponds
with colored reflections, leaf macros, colorful hillsides, and many quaint villages. The second loop - another day of 'Maple mania' -
will see us head north then westwards via covered bridges, more quaint villages,
a back road overlooking the colorful Vermont landscape, and Lake Willoughby. The
day will conclude with sunset over a lake.
Saint Johnsbury, 3 nights
Day 8 |
St. Johnsbury to Burlington via Stowe
We'll make another early start for first light photography, fog is common in the
area, then following breakfast we'll head west via more covered bridges to the
Stowe region for a classic church and colorful hillside one last time. To
the Von Trapp family lodge - think 'Sound of Music' - which affords spectacular
views of the Worcester Mountain range to the east. Then via colorful Smuggler's
Notch for our last covered bridges followed by an old mill. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action on this tour by John.
South Burlington, 1 night
Day 9 | Departure day
As there isn't any photography scheduled for the day of departure on this trip, your flight home can be arranged for any time today. Transport to the airport is included unless you’re staying on for a day or more.
