Photography Tour Overview: Our Spain and Portugal
photography tour gets underway on the Portuguese Azores island of São Miguel,
then progresses northwards on mainland Portugal via Lisbon and Porto. On into
northern Spain where we'll explore the spectacular coastline, while also making
excursions into the Cantabrian mountain range just to the south. To conclude we take in the best
of Madrid, Cordoba and Merida before departing homewards from Lisbon, Portugal. The photography
throughout is rustic, historic, colorful, spectacular and inspiring. We hope you can join

But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour
Days 1, 2, 3 + 4 | São Miguel Island, Azores,
Our small group with will gather in the lobby of our gateway hotel at
9:30 am, and following introductions and a preview of images you can expect to
capture we'll head out to photograph the island. We'll have three full days to
photo-explore, with the three days given over to east, west and central
explorations. Among the island highlights will be waterfalls, coastal cliff
scenes, lakes, dormant volcanic landscapes, harbors, historic buildings, gardens
and geyser basins.

Day 5 | To Lisbon, Portugal
Photography this morning will be dependent on our flight time to Lisbon on
the Portuguese mainland. Once in Lisbon we will head for our hotel, take a short
break, and head out into the city to photograph a handful of the best locations
in the city. Dinner and twilight shots will also be included.

Day 6 | To Porto, Portugal
Before departing Lisbon we'll shoot the '25th of April bridge', and the
medieval Belém Tower etcetera. Then off in the direction of Porto via Porto de
Mós Castle, and the ancient hill village of Monsanto. Evening light shots and
dinner adjacent to the Douro River in Porto

Day 7 | To Corcubión, Spain
Today we move from Portugal into Spain, while following the Atlantic ocean.
We'll zigzag our way north taking in ocean scenes, harbors, historical locations
and much, much more as usual on our photography tours. Our one-night home is
Corcubión on the northwest coast of Galicia, a region which takes its name from
the Gallaeci people who were the Celtic folk living north of the Douro
River during the last millennium BC. Sunsets arrive early in September, and we'll be
at the town's harbor this evening for a series of images.

Days 8 + 9 | Celtic Galicia, Spain
Early light photography, then after breakfast we'll follow the coast northwards
and pause for harbors, villages, pastoral and ocean scenes dotted with sea
stocks. We're now deep into
northern Spain's mountainous region as we approach Ribadeo, and we'll make
detours for the best scenes and historical villages as we make our way to the
northern Spanish coast for our two night stay. On day 9 we'll loop southwards
through the western Cantabrian mountain ranges of the Asturias region, then
return to Ribadeo for a second night via a a variety of wonderfully classic

Days 10, 11 + 12 | The Asturias, Cantabria,
and Basque country Coastline
and Mountain Ranges, Spain
We will go east along the Bay of Biscay coastline on day 10 which you'll find to be awash
with spectacular coves, sea stacks, arches, medieval fortresses, lighthouses and much more.
This will be repeated on days 11 and 12 as our route takes us through the
Spanish districts of Asturias, Cantabria, and Basque country. We'll take trips southwards for a
variety of images in the western Cantabrian mountain range, including vineyards
caressing the lower slopes. The cave of Altamira is noted for its prehistoric
parietal cave art featuring charcoal drawings and polychrome paintings of
regional fauna and human hands. Also included is the hermitage on the island of
Santander, Spain, 3 nights
Days 13 | To Madrid, Spain
After early shooting and breakfast we'll head southwards towards Madrid,
pausing for multiple photo stops throughout the day . . . as usual! Highlights
today will be mountain scenes, waterfalls, canyons, beautiful rural
landscapes, quaint villages, architectural oddities and more. On to Madrid, and an evening exploration
of the old city on foot, plus dinner.

Day 14 | To Cordoba, Spain
Before breakfast we'll conclude our essential Madrid photography and head
southwards. Our first sojourn of the day will be for the classic scenes near Consuegra.
On via Despeñaperros Natural Park to Corboda for our overnight stay, and ample
time to explore the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba plus the adjacent Roman bridge
spanning the River Guadalquivir.

Day 15 | Merida, Spain, and our return to Lisbon, Portugal
More shooting around Cordoba this morning prior to weaving our way towards Lisbon via ever-changing scenery.
The highlight of the day will be the ancient town of Merida where the Roman remains of a bridge, amphitheater and an impressive aqueduct
still stand nearly two centuries on. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will
feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action by John.

Day 16 | Departure day
As there isn't any photography scheduled for the day of departure, your flight home can be arranged for any time today.
