Photography Tour Overview: Springtime in
the hill towns of Provence is a mosaic of colorful rustic windows
and doorways, flower boxes, snoozing cats, red-roof skylines, foggy
dawns, red poppy signatures, plus several ancient communities
including Gordes, Avignon, Roussillon, Lacoste,
Castellane, and Sisteron et cetera. Also included is Senanque Abbey, the wild horses of the Camargue,
and Roman sidebars such as the amphitheatre in Arles, a pair of
Roman bridges, and the classic Pont du Gard aqueduct . . . each of
which date back almost 2,000 years. As with all of our photography tours, early and late shooting is scheduled for each day.

Our itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo
tour
field notes.
Days 1 + 2 | Napoleon Route, Gourdon, Castellane and Sisteron We'll gather
at 12 noon at a hotel in Nice, and take the included lunch.
During lunch John will present a selection of images that you can expect to capture during our Provence photography tour. We'll then head in the direction of Castellane via the Napoleon Route. We'll take our time and pause for a smattering of rural life scenes and a pair of rustic villages including Saint Vallier de Thiey, plus a detour for the Gourdon Gorge loop that includes Gourdon village and more. On day 2 we'll explore our new surroundings which include the spectacular 'church on the rock' and take a side trip northwards to take in Sisteron and much more throughout the day. Castellane, 2 nights
Days 3 + 4 | Verdon Grand Canyon, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Gordes and Senanque Abbey
Heading east today we'll travel via the Verdon Grand Canyon with multiple stops for spectacular scenery. Then to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a pretty and very photogenic medieval village perched on the side of a mountain.
ASaignon is also scheduled for today, then on to Gordes to check into our accommodations, with images of the late light falling on this spectacular hill town.
Day 4 will include the quaint Provencal villages of Lourmarin, the classic Senanque Abbey image, the ochre-tinted Roussillon in the evening light, the ancient Pont Julien [bridge] and much more. Near Gordes, 2 nights
Days 5 + 6 | The Horses of the Camargue, Avignon, Arles and Pont du Gard
We 'mop up' around Gordes this morning, then head in the direction of Arles taking more ancient Provence including the spectacularly situated village of Les Baux-de-Provence which gave its name to the mineral Bauxite. In the evening we'll be adjacent to the Mediterranean as the wild horses of the Camargue
gallop through shallow water specifically for our group.
Also scheduled is the walled city of Avignon with the St. Benezet bridge et cetera; the massive 1,900 year old Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard; Arles' Roman amphitheatre and more. Near Arles, 2 nights
Day 7 | Arles to Marseille We may be heading to the airport vicinity today, but on the way we'll be rounding off our Provencal photography when we sojourn in Saint-Chamas on the shoreline of Etang de Berre, and the historic Pont Flavien.
The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action on this tour by John. Near Marseilles airport, 1 night
Day 8 | Departure day As there isn't any photography scheduled for the day of departure on this trip, your flight home can be arranged for any time today. Transport to the airport is included unless you’re staying on for a day or more.
Free transport is available if continuing on to our Burgundy
photography tour.
