Photography Tour Overview: Travel Images is headquartered in Idaho, so itís only natural that we should show our clients what our home State has to offer photographically. Among the highlights
on our Idaho photo tour are the Boise skyline, Silver City ghost town, Bruneau Dunes
State Park, the Sawtooth Mountain National Recreation Area, canyons and fast
moving rivers, historic towns, the Central Idaho mountains and white water adventurers on the Salmon River
etcetera. We conclude the tour on a remote section of the Snake River in Hells Canyon.
itinerary . . .
Just a moment, first things first! We suggest that you set your camera clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour
Day 1 | Boise, Silver City
ghost town, and Bruneau Dunes State Park
Our group will meet in the lobby of our gateway hotel in Boise at 9 am, and
work our west across the Snake River Plain as we make our way to the Silver City ghost town.
We'll wander about
Silver City photographing rustic buildings, and colorful paraphernalia prior to heading east across
the Snake River Plain. We'll go via Oreana with stops along the Snake River,
plus investigate the old Oregon Trail. After dinner we'll head to Bruneau Dunes State Park
for the warm, late side-lighting on the dunes.
Near Bruneau Sand Dunes, 1 night
Days 2 + 3 | Sawtooth National Recreation Area
the Bruneau sand dunes early, then following breakfast we'll depart the Snake River Plain and head for
the mountains. On via Sun Valley, Galena Summit, and at least one detour for the
remnants of a ghost town. We're now in the
heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, and during our stay near Stanley
we'll explore lakes, moderately strenuous mountain trails, and compose the Sawtooth range
behind a series of zig-zag fence shots. A boat trip on Redfish Lake is also included.
Stanley, 2 nights
Days 4 + 5 | Central Idaho Mountains,
and the Total Eclipse of the Sun from an optimal location
After an early Sawtooth mountain range photo session we'll coast the
Ponderosa Pine Scenic Highway and the Payette River Canyon. A Cascade Lake
detour is planned, and then on to the resort town of McCall for two nights.
During our stay we'll explore Ponderosa State Park, a 'ghost town', and Payette
Lake etcetera. You'll love the Payette lake sunsets! Plus on August the 21st,
2017, we're including photography of the total eclipse of the sun adjacent to
the Payette River. John will guide everyone regarding settings and equipment
both before and during the trip. Simple Eclipse Glasses will be provided for viewing
the sun between shots.
McCall, 2 nights
Day 6 |
Hells Canyon National Recreation Area
Today we'll head north to shoot white-water adventurers on the Salmon River,
plus canyon vistas. To Hells Canyon and a remote region that is many miles from
a major highway . . . . and the scenery reflects that. Photography will include
the Brownlee Oxbow section of the Snake River, plus other riverbank shots to the
north including rustic shacks. Previous wildlife sightings were wild turkeys,
deer, and big horn sheep. If you'd like to try your hand at astrophotography
after dark, there will be nothing in the way of light pollution out here on the
Oregon and Idaho border.
Hells Canyon, 1 night
Day 7 |
Hells Canyon to Boise
Hells Canyon photography when the sun filters into the canyon, then off via Cambridge and rolling
rural scenes to Idaho's capital city, Boise. Late light on the city skyline is
the shot. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action by John.
Boise, 1 night
Day 8 | Departure day
As there is no photography scheduled for the day of departure, your flight home can be arranged for any time today.
However, we reserve the right to schedule an early light excursion for those
