Photography Tour Overview: From Washington DC to Niagara Falls via Philadelphia, New York, Portland Head lighthouse, New Hampshire and Vermont fall foliage and Syracuse . . . a grass roots photography trip of the American east. Photography subjects will include the White House, Arlington cemetery, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and everything in-between as we make our way to Niagara Falls. Along the way there will be many additional photo ops and historical perspectives in the region where modern American history began.

Our itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour field notes.

Days 1 + 2  |  Washington DC and environs
We'll kick off our Eastern Seaboard Icons photography tour at 9 am, and head out to photograph a cluster of iconic buildings and monuments that represent over two centuries America's history. Most of the images will be accessed on foot, but we'll take our time, especially as our exploration of the city and region will be split over two days. Washington icons include Arlington cemetery, the National Mall, Capitol Building, Jefferson Memorial, the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Washington Monument along with twilight photography if you have the energy. A side trip to George Washington's Mount Vernon is also on the schedule.
Washington DC, 2 nights

Day 3  |  Washington DC to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
We'll meander some picturesque country roads as we make our way to the historical Gettysburg. After an exploration of it's history and  On to Philadelphia and Independence National Historical Park where the Liberty Bell is preserved. Nearby is the iconic Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted in the late 18th century. Twilight photography and more.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1 night

Days 4 + 5  |  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Brooklyn, New York

Near Portland Head lighthouse, Maine, 1 night

Days 7 + 8  |  Portland Head lighthouse, Maine, to Woodstock, Vermont
After shooting the dawn sunrise at the Portland head lighthouse we'll head inland for a potpourri of images as the fall foliage begins to dominate the latter half of the trip. On through New Hampshire for classic and colorful images in the White Mountains. We then cross the Connecticut River into Vermont, and on to Woodstock, Vermont, for a two night stay.
On day 8 we'll start with dawn shooting at Jenne Farm and a sugar shack with the remainder of the day taken up with shooting covered bridges, classic red barn scenes, and rustic Vermont villages.

Days 10 + 11  |  Syracuse, New York, to Niagara Falls, New York
We'll make detours for images as we make our way to Niagara Falls, and once we are checked into our hotel we'll make the first of several visits to the famed falls. Today and on day 11 we'll shoot both the United States and Canadian sides of the waterfalls, with long exposures being highly recommended. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action by John.
