Photography Tour Overview: Experience the true essence of
England’s photographic diversity with an English photographer in Cornwall, the Cotswolds, the Yorkshire Dales and
Moors, plus the Lake District . . . plus many locations
in-between. Join us and point your camera at the mixture of
ancient and modern contrasts, plus the landscape mosaics of
hedgerow, stone wall, patchwork fields and mountain ranges.
Stonehenge access is via an exclusive dawn or dusk permit, plus you'll
shoot the oh so English thatched cottages, stone circles, tin
mines - 'Poldark', 'Downton Abbey', James Herriot, and
Wordsworth scenes included - plus a thundering old steam
train et cetera. Added to all of this there will be plenty more
to shoot on winding country lanes that we frequently take
between our scheduled stops. As with all of our photography tours, early and late shooting is scheduled for each day.

Our itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included
photo tour
field notes.
Day 1 | Avebury Standing Stones and Stonehenge
Our group will meet in the lobby of our gateway hotel near
Heathrow airport at 10 am, and head westwards on the M4
motorway. Then southwards into a "green and pleasant" English landscape where we can slow down for our first
images, usually of bright yellow canola. English villages are notoriously charming and the day's highlight will be Avebury which was built among standing stones. On to our accommodations via a collection of English country scenes. Stonehenge is scheduled for the sunset on day 1, or the sunrise hour on day 2 depending upon the availability of the permits. Note: If you're the complete Stonehenge fanatic, our photo tour of
Wales includes a visit to the location scientifically proven a few years ago as being the origin of Stonehenge's 'blue stones'. Near Stonehenge, 1 night
Days 2, 3 + 4 | Devon and Cornwall Quaint villages near Amesbury are on the morning menu, as is the Gothic Salisbury Cathedral. Then off to Cornwall via the cobblestone and thatch of Gold Hill in Shaftsbury . . . an English classic. On to our central Cornwall accommodations for a 3 night stay.
Days 3 and 4: A loop of the Land's End peninsula including
several picturesque coastal communities, St. Michael’s Mount and
tin mines that are 'Poldark' locations. We'll also make an
easterly exploration of the south Cornish coast concluding at Mevagissey. Both days include
photo stops that are too many to mention. Cornwall, 3 nights
Days 5, 6 + 7 | The Cotswolds We leave the quaint coastal scenes behind today and head for the county of Somerset. There we'll take in Glastonbury Abbey and Wells Cathedral before continuing north to our new home in Cotswold stone country. Days 6 and 7 will find us shooting around the very best Cotswold stone villages, with thatches and
'country lane charm' in abundance. We'll also amble
around the village where scenes from 'Downton Abbey' were filmed
frequently . . . but not the abbey itself which is actually
Highclere castle
and not part of our England photography tour. The Cotswolds, 3 nights
Days 8, 9 + 10 | The Yorkshire Dales, Moors
and Coast Going north today via more Cotswold scenes we'll
compose the classic Warwick Castle shot and more before heading for Yorkshire. On to our new home in the depths of
Yorkshire. Days 9 and 10 will feature the Dales which are a
green and gray patchwork of stone barns, dry-stone walls and
rolling hillsides, while our coastal trip across the Yorkshire
moors includes a steam
train, picturesque seaside villages and a photogenically
situated cliff-top abbey. The Dales and Moors are
James Herriot the veterinarian country, and we'll explore many book and TV scenes during
our two full days. Yorkshire, 3 nights
Days 11, 12 + 13 | The Lake District
We'll travel via Fountains Abbey and Bolton Abbey as we make our way to the Lake District in Cumbria
today. The 'Lakes' are the most naturally photogenic area in England and we'll explore it all from our
central three night base. Loop trips will
see us taking in the southern lake section, plus a northern
jaunt to include a stone circle, lakes, and an ancient bridge. Sunrise photography in the Lake District is often blessed with fog, and we'll be out early and late
at the water's edge for the best light. The Lake district was
Beatrix Potter's home, and the inspiration for Wordsworth who
"Wandered lonely as a cloud". The Lake District, 3 nights
Day 14 | Lake District to Heathrow We'll
'mop-up' in the Lake District this morning, We'll then journey
on to our Heathrow hotel via a one last worthwhile detour.
The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an 'It's You!' presentation of clients in action on this tour by John. Near Heathrow airport, 1 night
Day 15 | Departure day
As there isn't any photography scheduled for the day of departure on this trip, your flight home can be arranged for any time today. Transport to the airport is included unless you’re staying on for a day or more.
