Photography Tour Overview: We specifically designed
this short photography tour to complement our other 'winter escape' trips in the
southern United States. The San Diego region has much to offer in the way of
historic, military, and oceanic subjects, with the latter including many small
state parks that are lined up along the west coast's southernmost corner. For
those that pursue action shots, surfers, paragliders, and hang gliders are also
scheduled. A
whale watching trip is also included in our itinerary. As with all of our photography tours, early and late shooting is scheduled for each day.

Our
itinerary . . .
But first things first! We suggest that you set your camera's clock to the local time, as your images will then synchronize with the times in our included photo tour
field notes.
Day 1 | Point Loma and a Pacific sunset
Our San Diego photo tour will get under way at 12 noon when we will meet in the
hotel lobby, and take the included lunch together. After a short break we'll
venture out for the first time as a group, and spend the remainder of the day
photographing on the Point Loma peninsula, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery
included, and conclude the day with a Pacific
ocean sunset. As the sun sets around 6 pm each day, we'll take dinner after
concluding our photography.
Near Old Town San Diego, 5 nights
Days 2, 3, 4 + 5 | Multiple locations in the
greater San Diego region
We'll take in a variety of sunrise locations during the trip, with day 2 given
over to the San Diego city skyline. During the ensuing days the photography will
include, and starting with San Diego, the historic urban and cultural Balboa
Park. We'll also take a cruise up and down San Diego Bay to photograph the
variety of ships in the San Diego Naval Base, the islands of Harbor and Shelter, plus
the stylish Coronado bridge.
Another day will be set aside for a three hour boat trip to photograph the migrating
California Gray Whales, and a trip over to Coronado on Silver Strand for the historic
Hotel del Coronado, beach photography and more.
When we visit the San Diego Zoo Safari Park have your longer lenses on hand -
say 100-400mm - for the abundance of wildlife in their 'almost' natural habitat.
On the return we'll meet the coast near La Jolla and continue shooting as we
move southwards until the sun descends into the ocean. [splash!]
Our last full day will include more coastal vistas, surfers, paragliders, and
hang gliders, concluding with one last
Pacific ocean sunset. The included dinner on the last night of our photography tour will feature an
'It's You!' presentation of clients in action on this tour by John.
Day 6 | Departure day
As there isn't any photography scheduled for the day of departure on this trip, your flight home can be arranged for any time today. Transport to the airport is included unless you’re staying on for a day or more.
