OVERVIEW:
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming is a veritable American
icon, is ‘busy’ during the summer months, but in the cool
stillness of autumn most folk have left, and the light is
mellow. There is wildlife such such as Elk, Moose, Antelope,
Mule Deer and Coyote etcetera within camera range, plus
gorgeous autumn color to the south as Aspen, Willow and
Cottonwoods complement the spectacular Grand Teton
range. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth hot springs,
geysers, old barns plus a session on a working cowboy ranch.
TRAVEL TO THE GATEWAY AIRPORT
o It is recommended that clients arrive a day early to be fresh for the trip, and to also counteract possible flight delays.
o Early arrival also enables you to explore the gateway city should you wish to do so.
o When booking flights, add a day for overnight travel or two days if also crossing the Pacific Ocean/International Dateline.
o The last day of the trip is the date you should arrange your flight home unless you plan to stay on. Thank you!
DAY 1 | GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, WY
Midday flights
into Jackson Hole, followed by lunch and a series of
photo stops as we head into Jackson for motel check-in.
After a short break, back out to shoot at a leisurely pace in a
park set aside for the nation in 1929. Old barns sit well
against the towering Teton peaks, as do the golden Aspens at
this time of year, and we'll frame some classic last light shots before
returning to Jackson for our first
supper together. JACKSON, 1 night
DAY 2
|
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK Following
your first classic Teton sunrise photography and breakfast back in Jackson,
we'll linger in Grand Teton
National Park for part of the day as we head north into
Yellowstone. As we progress
we’ll be on the lookout for Moose, Antelope, Coyote, Elk,
Deer and Osprey. We’ll arrive in the Park late in the day, and
be shooting as we head via Old Faithful for our overnight on
the edge of the park. Yellowstone National Park was the worlds first,
and opened on March 1st, 1872.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
We'll depart before dawn and shoot the first light alongside
the Madison River, and continue shooting prior to taking
breakfast at Old Faithful. You'll then have a couple of
hours to shoot the Old Faithful geyser, and take the short
hike for a series of geysers including Morning Glory. Lunch
at Old Faithful before heading north via Midway Geyser
basin, Fountain Paint Pots,
fly fishermen in the Firehole
River,
Firehole Canyon and Falls
and wildlife as the opportunity arises. On day 4 we'll photograph the wildlife around Gardiner, plus the
Gardner River Canyon, Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls,
Mount Washburn, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and explore
the spots that most likely harbor Grizzly Bear, Pronghorn Antelope, Elk,
Coyote, Bison, and Moose etcetera.
Back to
Gardiner continuing on the northern loop, shooting as we go. GARDINER, 2 nights

GRAND TETON
NATIONAL PARK Early light photography once again prior to breakfast then
we'll head into Yellowstone Park for the last time. Going
south we can shoot some spots already seen, but in different
light on this day. Via the Mud Volcano geyser area,
Yellowstone River and Yellowstone Lake to
re-enter Grand Teton National Park in the afternoon. Signal
Mountain Lodge is our 3 night home and sits at the edge of
Jackson Lake. During our stay, first light photography is
spectacular and well worth the effort. We’re familiar with
the best spots for Moose and Mule Deer in the park, and other
highlights will be Oxbow Bend, Jenny Lake, Snake River
Overlook, String Lake, Schwabacher Landing, the Chapel of the
Transfiguration etcetera. Also included is a Ranch visit to
photograph wranglers as they go about their daily Dude Ranch
duties.
As the sun sets you can be sure that we'll make the
best of whatever light is available for some striking
Wrangler silhouettes.
JACKSON, 3 nights
DAY 8

FLIGHTS HOME Weather permitting, another gorgeous sunrise, and after
breakfast we’ll shoot leisurely once more as we head to
